Artist Maria Farmer in her studio

About

I see art in everything. Rarely do I enter a room that I do not immediately begin decorating it. I’ve always been mesmerized by geometry and line as well as anatomy and proportion. In my work I like to paint symmetrical faces, while making the environment somewhat surreal. Often pushing the environmental imagery, I hope to keep viewers on their toes and evoke a feeling of mystery. I like using acrid colors and very much enjoy the various colors of human flesh.

After a 20 year sabbatical of sorts, I've returned with a series about the seemingly impossible. After my experiences of the NYC "elites", I recognize that anything is possible! This consideration broadened my mind and made me reassess "fantasy" vs "reality".
